None of these images are watermarked, but I do assert copyright. I would ask anyone interested in using any of the images on the site to please
email me first. I'm positive we can work something out.
I would be very happy to provide copies of original full size files for charitable use.
Help!!! I’m overdosing on ‘oooohhhhhs and ahhhhhhhs’!!!!!
These are really good. I have a few taken last year, but they pale in comparison. Mine were dark and blurred in spots. I really like the double blue and white explosions—those are pretty.
You are spectacular at this Crash! And here I had my camera pointed at the ground most of the night. To think the real action was in the sky. Who’d have thought it?!
Nice shots, it looks like you were fairly close to the show. We’re you using a 50mm lens to fill the frame? The colors we’re really nice.
Thank you all very much! I’ve tried taking fireworks shots handheld, and I just can’t get it to work right. A tripod with a remote release makes all the difference, for me anyway. It took a few shots for me to get the timing down on the remote release … let the firework get about half bloomed, then open the shutter for a count of 4.
Starstruck – I was moderately close to the show, on the roof of a parking garage. I didn’t know for sure what direction in the sky the main part of the show would be coming from, and was mortified when it became obvious that it was from the direction of a building with four very bright floodlights pointed my way. So I changed the ISO to 100 in an attempt to knock down as much floodlight glare as I could.
Images were captured RAW on the D60. I cropped the images just a little, and that’s the only editing. The colors are as the D60 saw them.
Funny thing … I was so focused on the sky that I wasn’t paying attention to the buildings other than to re-frame the shot on the tripod from time to time. It wasn’t until the captures were transferred to the Mac that I realized that the building I was using as a framing reference had ‘CITY HALL’ on the side of it. Go figure ….
